Île-de-France Region

Country : France (FR)
Address : Rue Simone Veil, 2, 93400, Paris, France (FR) 93400 Paris

The Île-de-France Region, home to more than 12 million people, brings strong expertise in climate adaptation, sustainable land-use planning and urban greening to MultiRoofs. As the project’s only regional public authority, Île-de-France plays an important role in connecting rooftop transformation with broader regional strategies for climate resilience, biodiversity and quality of life. Building on its climate adaptation and environmental planning policies, the Region already supports local authorities and residents through capacity-building initiatives and financial incentives for measures such as rooftop greening, solar energy and water management.

Within MultiRoofs, Île-de-France hosts one of the project’s pilot areas and contributes to the development of the joint strategy and Digital Twin, providing regional and local data as well as expertise on land use, housing and socio-economic challenges. The Region also works closely with local authorities to ensure that the project’s tools respond to their needs and can be effectively adopted in different urban contexts. As part of its pilot activities, Île-de-France develops and manages financial incentives for rooftop owners and explores ways to identify roofs with strong potential for transformation. Finally, the Region mobilises local public authorities for the MultiRoofs training programme and helps ensure that the project’s solutions can be replicated across other urban regions in North-West Europe, extending its impact beyond the pilot area.
